Activate
Activate is an activated carbon dressing for cleansing wounds. Multi-layered dressing absorbs bacteria within the dressing. Eliminates odour and absorbs exudate. Sterile. Activate dressings are 10cm x 15cm (5 per pack).

Whilst serious wounds should always be attended by a veterinary surgeon, many pet owners have discovered the benefits of using Activate as a routine First Aid dressing to help prevent infection in minor wounds. As well as an integral layer of activated carbon to help cleanse bacteria from the wound, and absorb exudate, the dressing also has a low-adherent surface to prevent undue disruption of healing tissue.

Clean any wound thoroughly using a saline solution and make sure that any debris or loose tissue has been removed. To apply, carefully open the sterile pouch and place the dark, smooth side of the dressing directly to the wound. It is important that the dressing is in contact with the wound surface and that nothing else has been applied to the wound to create a 'barrier' between the wound surface and the dressing.

Why use a Wound Hydrogel?
Wound Hydrogels can both denote moisture and absorb excess exudate providing a more controlled wound environment. They also act by gently debriding wounds and rehydrating necrotic tissue which will then be removed from the wound surface.

Faster Healing - Wounds are able to heal more quickly in a moisture controlled environment.  The new epithelial cells can more around more easily, allowing the damaged tissue to repair quickly.

Less Scaring -  The likelihood of scarring is reduced because there is no scab formation.

Reduced Pain - In open wounds the nerve endings are exposed and the wound can feel painful.  With a moist environment the nerve endings are cushined and protected by the moisture which gives relief from pain.

Usage: Clean wound thoroughly. Apply directly to the wound surface before applying an appropriate secondary dressing such as Activate. Apply generously to a depth of 5mm. Dressings should be changed frequently dependent on the condition of the wound and the amount of exudate. Discard any remaining Hydrogel after use.
